The Open Brand Project
Rebranding a company - the open source way - not an easy feat. The Open Brand Project occurred over about 18 months, starting in late 2017 and culminating in Red Hat’s new brand reveal at Red Hat Summit 2019.
It had been 17 years since Red Hat had last updated their logo - and a few things needed to change. We were no longer the secretive upstart, and we also just practically needed a mark that could scale to all digital applications.
I joined a team of roughly a dozen designers collaborating with Paula Scher from Pentagram. My role was exploring how the new logo options worked in animation, and to reveal the new logo to the world.
